Connectivity

Dark fibre

Your own fibre between buildings, lit with your own equipment, for very high speed and a fixed cost however much you send over it.

When dark fibre makes sense

  • Very high bandwidth

Speed is set by the equipment at each end, not a contract, so it can grow without the fibre changing.

  • Fixed cost

You pay for the fibre, not for how much data crosses it.

  • Private

Nothing else shares the fibre, which suits data centres, campuses and sites that move a lot of data between them.

  • Availability

It depends on routes existing between your sites, so we check what's available before anything else.

Questions

What's the difference from a leased line?

A leased line is a managed service at a set speed. Dark fibre is the bare fibre: you, or we, provide and run the equipment that lights it.
