Software support and maintenance

Looking after software once it's live: updates, security fixes, bug fixes and small improvements, by people who know how it's built.

What we look after

  • Security and dependency updates

Keeping frameworks and packages current. In MITS that means acting on Dependabot alerts and Checkov infrastructure checks; in HeySales it meant upgrading Next.js and React to pick up security fixes.

  • Bug fixes

Finding the cause, not just the symptom. When HelloRestaurant's month view failed once a restaurant had about 100 bookings, the fix was loading table assignments in smaller batches. When Google sign-in failed in HeySales, the fix was replacing a library that doesn't work on Workers.

  • Security reviews

Periodic checks that matter. In HeySales we went through every API route to make sure each one returns only the signed-in company's data.

  • Accessibility and usability

Fixes that make software easier for everyone to use. HeySales's embeddable forms were reworked to work with screen readers, with better contrast and phone layout.

How it works

Every change goes through version control and the same deployment steps as the rest of the product, so there's a record of what changed, when and why, and any change can be undone.

Questions

Can you take over software someone else built?

Yes. We start by reading the code, getting it running, and writing down how it's deployed, before changing anything.

Do we have to be on a particular platform?

No. We look after software on AWS, Google Cloud, Azure and Cloudflare, and can help you move if the current setup is costing you.
